Former “Expert Leader ADAS and AD Systems at Renault Group”. Passion for embedded systems and automation has lead Luc Bourgeois to work 13 years for aircraft industry at different position in Thales company, developing avionics systems such as Flight Management System and Flight Guidance system. Then in 2000 Luc Bourgeois joined the Renault Group as manager of embedded software and Systems control. Since 2010 Luc Bourgeois act as “Expert Leader” for Systems control and ADAS and Autonomous Driving Systems. Luc is also Senior Adviser ADAS at DVN Company (Driving Vision News) and President of ADAS and AD SIA community.

The L2+ safety stakes for engineering

Firstly, we will compare the SAE levels L2, L2+, L3 … We will then give the specific characteristics of the L2+ systems and specify the associated safety issues. We will highlight the importance of implementing a SOTIF approach for the development of such systems and we will emphasize the importance of the understandability of HMIs. The relevant perception and sensors required for this type of system will also be illustrated . Finally a comparison will be made with the architectures necessary for levels L3 and L4.
