Speaker Q&A: Vineeth Venkiteswaran, WW solutions and GTM strategy lead, autonomous driving, Amazon
Amazon

Hear from Vineeth on Day 1 (August 28) as he presents ‘Accelerating ADAS and autonomous vehicle development with cloud-native solutions’ during the ‘Developing software, AI, big data and architecture – challenges and innovations’ session.

What are top 3 developments in ADAS/AD technologies you expect to see in the next 5 years.

The use of Generative AI in Validation and Verification (V&V) to increase test and validation coverage.

Scaling data strategies across different world regions and maintaining governmental compliances for PII

Turn-key technologies, automated data pipelines and reusable/repeatable data solutions in order to reduce development time and improve time to market.

When do you expect to see full autonomy on US roads? When should we expect commercialization of AV technologies at scale?

Full autonomy is about two decades away on US roads. In other world regions, the time maybe much shorter due to increased infrastructure deployment (autonomous driving lanes, V2X etc…) and government influences. AV technology commercialization at scale will occur in a phased approach and in order off: self-driving trucks (long-haul, middle-mile, last-mile), passenger shuttles, passenger vehicles, and robotaxis.

What are the main 3 obstacles in the road to full deployment? How can they be overcome?

Having real-time Over the Air (OTA) and V2X capabilities (smart intersections) to support ADAS functionalities. Improved satellite and broadband connectivity with solution providers like Amazon Kuiper and telecommunication companies like Verizon.

High cost of having to re-develop features and integrate technologies for a new vehicle program. Using reusable/repeatable architectures and artifacts to scale from vehicle program to program.

Data security, privacy, and vehicle cybersecurity are significant threats. Management of consumer and PII data by securing it in AWS. Ensure robust cybersecurity protocols by improving penetration test suites for autonomous driving.

What are you speaking about in San Jose and what 3 messages would you like your audience to take away?

Full cycle data-driven development by leveraging cloud-native AWS technologies and solutions.

Improved Validation and Verification (Big-loop) using AWS and Qualcomm's Snapdragon Digital Chassis

Managing Peta-byte (PB) scale sensor data from development through commercialization and beyond (insurance, liability)
