Edward Straub

Edward Straub is the executive director of the Automated Vehicle Safety Consortium and the director of SAE International’s office of automation. His office provides input and perspectives on emerging automated vehicle technologies, their challenges and their impact on the sociotechnical landscape. Prior to joining SAE, Dr Straub worked with automated vehicles and automated vehicle safety as a researcher, program manager, technical program director and chief safety officer. At the dawn of the internet revolution, he worked in business process reengineering and information systems integration and strategy. He also served as a commissioned combat engineer officer in the United States Marine Corps.

What is the AVSC and how is it influencing standards?

The presentation will include an overview of the AVSC (Automated Vehicle Safety Consortium) and its mission regarding the development of best practices and how they lead into other standards organizations, along with the impact and influence AVSC has had since its inception in 2019.
