Safety and SOTIF impacts on L2+(+) System Design

21 May 2025
Room A (W2/3)
Safety requirements and demonstration: validation and tooling with a L2+ L3 focus
The deployment of advanced Level 2 systems has seen a rapid acceleration in recent years. L2 systems have evolved to allow "hands-off" driving on highways (L2+). Additionally, the ODD of the functions has expanded to allow the use of L2 functions in most conditions and are coupled with navigation to enable a "Door2Door" L2 experience (L2++). These Level 2 systems remain under driver supervision and are still considered driver assistance systems. Nevertheless, these systems require consideration of SOTIF and Safety in their design and validation.
